He has delighted audiences with many highly acclaimed concerts, for example in Berlin, Munich, Milan, Moscow, Madrid, London, Paris, New York, Amsterdam, Budapest, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul. His talent has been appreciated at major music festivals, including Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Aldeburgh / UK, the Gilmore Festival in Michigan / USA, La Roque d'Anthéron / France, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Husum Festival and the Miami International Piano Festival.

He has performed with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Philippe Herreweghe, Lothar Zagrosek and Marek Janowski, and has made important debuts with, among others, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Paavo Järvi, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jaap van Zweden and the Hungarian National Philharmonic with Zsolt Hamar. During the European confinement in November 2020, he made his debut with the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev and the Ural Philhamonic in Yekaterinburg, Russia. In September 2021, he made his debut with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto in Dubai. He is a frequent guest in a series of concerts at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw. In 2020, he was invited back for this extraordinary series for the 8th time.

Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1978, Severin has won prizes in many outstanding international competitions, e.g. the "Ferruccio Busoni" in Bozen (1998), the "Leeds International Piano Competition" (2000), the "José Iturbi" in Valencia (2002), the ARD competition in Munich and first prize in the "Queen Elisabeth Competition" in Brussels (2003), as well as several special awards for "Best Interpretation of Contemporary Music".

Séverin von Eckardstein's artistic and musical education was mainly shaped by his teachers: Barbara Szczepanska, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and. Klaus Hellwig at the University of Arts in Berlin, where he also successfully completed his studies. At the International Piano Academy in Como, Italy, he benefited from private lessons with Alfred Brendel and took part in masterclasses with Vitalij Margulis, Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Alicia de Larrocha, Leon Fleisher and Menahem Pressler, to name but a few. He has also given masterclasses in South Korea, Finland, Belgium and at Berlin University of the Arts.

Chamber Music plays an important role in his artistic life, with festivals such as the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland, the Delft Chamber Music Festival in the Netherlands and the Risør Chamber Music Festival in Norway, where he has performed with cellist Heinrich Schiff. In 2015, he founded the chamber concert series at Berlin's Konzerthaus with violinist Franziska Hölscher.

Severin von Eckardstein's comprehensive repertoire spans the Baroque period through to music of the 21st century. In this capacity, he has premiered several works by contemporary composers, notably the American Sidney Corbett. A particular focus is the demanding late-Romantic piano music of lesser-known composers, especially Nicolai Medtner. CD recordings featuring compositions by Medtner, Scriabin, Wagner, Schubert, Schumann, Debussy and others are highly acclaimed. His album of the Dupont cycle "La maison dans les dunes" was awarded the "Diapason d'Or". Another CD featuring Prokofiev's "War Sonatas" was released in August 2021.
