Biography

Keigo Mukawa was born in Aichi, Japan, in 1993. In 2014, after studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, he was unanimously accepted by the jury at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris, where he now lives. In 2019, he will be awarded the Master's degree and in 2021 the Performer's Diploma. He is currently studying fortepiano.

His main teachers have been Frank Braley, Haruko Ueda, Théodore Paraskivesco, Yukio Yokoyama, Susumu Aoyagi, Patrick Cohen and Daria Fadeeva.

He has won numerous prizes in national and international competitions, the most prestigious of which are a 3rd prize at the Concours Reine Elisabeth in Belgium in 2021 and a 2nd prize at the Concours Long-Thibaud Crespin in France in 2019. Other awards include 1st prize at the 81st Japan Music Competition in 2012, 2nd prize at the Concours International de Piano d'Epinal in 2015, 2nd prize at the Concours International de Piano d'Île de France in 2016, 1st prize at the Coop Music Awards Competition in Italy in 2017, 5th prize at the Hamamatsu International Competition in Japan in 2018.

His repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music. He is renowned for his ability to shape the sound and express the style and aesthetic of each period and composer. He not only plays the modern piano, but also explores fortepiano techniques, and in July 2022 launched a series of concerts on this instrument in Tokyo.

He gives recital, orchestral and chamber music concerts in Japan, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, China, Korea and many other countries. The most remarkable of these was a series of six recitals for the "CHANEL Pygmalion Days" program in Tokyo, during which he performed the complete solo piano works of Maurice Ravel. These concerts gave rise to the idea of a double CD released by NOVA Record in November 2022.

He has appeared as soloist with various orchestras, including the Orchestre National de Lorraine, the Orchestre National de France, the Belgian National Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.
